Charlie Batch was the keynote speaker at the United Way of Gratiot, Michigan’s first ever Community Leaders Conference on Tuesday. The former Detroit Lions’ and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback inspired the crowd with his story of perseverance and humbleness.

After his remarks, Charlie told the Morning Sun News, “At some point in all of our lives we receive help, no matter where we’re at. It’s also about understanding that once you’ve reached a certain level of success on how to return to that. Being able to share some of my beliefs and volunteer my time is important.”
